By 2018, experts have predicted that the global market for cloud computing technologies and equipment will reach an astounding $79.1 billion.
The one corner of the globe where these technologies will be growing faster than anywhere else? The Middle East.
According to a Nov. 18 article from The National, rapid growth in the broadband and smartphone sectors will help fuel the Middle East’s lightning-fast adoption of cloud computing solutions. It’s expected that cloud solutions will grow at a rate of about 54% per year throughout the region, from 31 exabytes in 2013 to an incredible 262 exabytes by 2018.
Just so you know, one exabyte is equivalent to a billion gigabytes. Knowing this, it’s clear that there will be plenty of cloud solution providers throughout Middle Eastern countries four years from now.
“Connected daily lives and businesses are becoming a reality across the Middle East, with services including virtual offices, connected education and medicine on virtual decides all supported by cloud-based applications,” Scott Manson, Middle East data center lead at Cisco, told The National.
The benefits of pursuing cloud computing solutions are clear for any business. They allow companies to rent server space, software and applications from remote cloud servers that can be accessed from anywhere at any time. Cloud hosting gives companies a way to have virtually infinite storage, at a much higher level of security than an in-house server would normally be able to provide.
Many companies also make the switch to the cloud because of the cost-efficiency that a cloud computing solution boasts. There are no upfront hardware costs, making technology a variable cost that grows and shrinks along with the business.
As Middle Eastern countries continue to rapidly adjust to the innovations of cloud computing solutions, it’s clear that these nations’ economies will have a larger role to play on the global stage in just a few years’ time.
